Touring China

Date of Journey February 2013

In February 2013 my husband and I were lucky enough to go on an amazing trip to China with a Chinese friend acting as our guide. 5 weeks later with 5000 miles by car and 3 internal flights under our belts and amazing memories we returned home but vowed we will return!

Prior to leaving the UK we visited our local Rohan branch in Ambleside to get ourselves kitted out having previously chosen Rohan for a trip to the Canadian Rockies. After taking advice we both chose Trailblazer trousers, a variety of shirts and tops including the Stria polo shirt.

We were not disappointed, every item was comfortable, looked smart even after long hours travelling and all washed perfectly and dried overnight.

The latter was really important because the longest we stayed in one location was 3 nights. The absolute stars were the Trailblazer trousers because of their versatility. They proved perfect for lessons in Tai Chi and group dancing on the banks of the Yellow River in Lanzhou but were also ideal for more energetic walking in the Danxia rocks of Gansu Province and the Yardang National Park in the Gobi Desert.

The only item we failed to buy was a light weight quilted vest which would have been invaluable on our trip up to the Tibetan Plateau and to the Red Army Long March Museum on top of the Liupan Mountains, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region – we renamed this Mao’s refrigerator as we have never been to a museum which was this cold – minus 10 degrees!

My love of Rohan clothing began during the many years I taught geology and it took me through tens of geology fieldtrips – including Iceland. Our Rohan clothing is certainly well travelled but shows no sign of its many miles and many washes. Our trousers also even double up for golf! We have recommended Rohan to so many people and everyone who has tried it has only positive things to say. So thank you Rohan – where shall we go next?
