Manufactured with bonded seam construction and with hidden elasticated waist, these lightweight, durable trousers are super comfortable for those big, long mountain days.
Read more…With clever bonded seam construction reducing bulk and weight, these rugged trekking trousers are super comfortable and will considerably reduce chaffing allowing you to go for longer.
Seam construction bonds the two faces of the fabric together allowing a continuous bonded joint to replace the thousands of tiny holes created along a conventional seam. This means less bulk in the seam, resistance to water ingress and a neater profile. This translates to greater comfort particularly in hot sticky conditions where chafing can occur with a stitched seam.
Backing up the technology in the GR Explorers is the usual Rohan attention to detail which includes three secure outer pockets, easy grip zip technology, anti-scuff fabric on the hem for longevity, a comfortable stretch fabric, hidden soft elasticated waist and a UPF 40+ protection rating.
You’ll be hard pressed to find lightweight yet rugged trousers as comfortable and resilient as the GR Explorers.
*A Note on Sun Protection
All Rohan garments carrying our sun protection icon have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. Garments are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.

Imported
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
DMC™ is a wicking treatment that rapidly spreads the moisture our bodies create across the surface area of a garment. This can be achieved through the technical construction of the garment or by a performance coating and ensures that the garment dries more quickly, encourages evaporative heat loss and helps you stay cooler and more comfortable for longer.

Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

Bought a pair of these in a sale earlier this year and found they were very comfortable to wear. On a whim, and because they are actually very light - under 300g - I wore them on my recent Pennine Way travels. In the end I wore them for the walk every single day (they were washed, a couple of times!) and at the end, they looked as smart as the day I set out. Comfortable, light, dry very quickly after rain or washing .. good stuff. They are true to size but if you expand an inch, they will cope. As such, a better alternative to the fusion or chino in my opinion, but just as smart ..
Just bought these, went up the Cuillins in Skye in them, great, you could forget you were wearing them, no rubbing or flapping. Recommended for the hills.
Easily the best all-round trekking trousers Rohan have produced - and I've tried many of them down the years! Lightweight, stretchy and not overburdened with too many pockets - that's what a rucsac is for! Comfortable in a wide range of temperatures too. So comfortable in fact, I find myself wearing them for pottering about in town too. Excellent product.
