A high-performance alternative to the good old cotton T-shirt, the Element T is a great choice as a technical base layer or ideal on its own over a pair of jeans or trousers.Read more…
100% cotton T-shirts look great straight from the packet but, before you know it, a few spins on a hot wash will convert it into a shapeless bag that’s only fit to use as car cleaning rag. Sad but true.
Fortunately we have come up with a solution: cue the Element T, the thinking man's cotton T-shirt. Only it's not cotton.
It’s made from a blend of sophisticated technical fibres that have been ‘Vortex’ spun to provide long-term durability – basically it’ll never stretch, fade or lose its shape. It just keeps going – year after year.
A Dynamic Moisture Control™ finish helps to wick moisture extremely efficiently, offering cool comfort in hot, humid conditions, and UPF 40+ sun protection ensures you’re kept safe from the harmful effects of the sun’s rays – in fact, it’s the perfect option for warm-weather trekking and travel. Alternatively it would also work excellently as a base layer under warm top layers to keep you feeling cool and comfortable during active hiking or walking in cold-weather conditions.
It’s also easy to wash – in the machine or by hand – and will comfortably dry overnight. So it’ll be ready to wear again the next morning, with no ironing required.
A classic cotton T is an essential part of any wardrobe, but why choose underperforming cotton when you could get all the style and softness but in a technically superior, long-lasting fabric? With the Element T you get the best of both worlds.
*A Note on Sun Protection
All Rohan garments carrying our sun protection icon have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. Garments are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.

Building stretch into our fabrics offers some big advantages. It allows us to make very comfortable, streamlined clothing. And a close fit has big advantages for active people. Clothes don’t flap in the wind, they work well in a layering system without bulking up and because there is less fabric, they are lighter, dry quicker and pack smaller – all critical Rohan virtues.
Our Dynamic Moisture Control™ finish is a permanent, wicking treatment that rapidly spreads moisture, such as sweat, over a wide surface area of the fabric. This ensures the garment dries more quickly and you stay more comfortable - even in the hottest and most humid conditions.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

Just purchased a pilot blue Element t shirt in the Rohan mid-season sale. Excellent quality, material and fit. The fit is comfortable and contemporary, not too tight and not unflatteringly baggy.
I seem to run extremely hot, so breathable wicking t-shirts are essential - regular cotton does not do the job for me! So these are great in the summer, or on holiday to helping keep me feel cool and fresh. The quick drying time after a wash is a nice bonus.
However, at the time of writing there are only five colour options, a dark and light blue, white, black and an olive green. It would be nice to have a few more colour options, the obvious ones being navy, a dark grey and a light grey, and perhaps a breton stripe? This would mean I'd have enough t-shirts in colours I like to last a fortnight!
The Element T-Shirt is a classic product – it has been around for years and is as good as ever. The material is polyester with elastane to make it stretch – very useful and effective for active use. And at under 200g in weight, it is easy to pack in a suitcase or rucksack.
I mostly wear this T-Shirt in South East Asia for hiking, trekking and city sightseeing. It is very soft and breathable and I have rarely felt too hot even in the most humid conditions. It also works well as a base layer in colder climates – a very good all round T-Shirt.
It can be washed and dried in a couple of hours – very useful when hiking or trekking. No ironing is needed as it does not crease at all. And it is very durable with great longevity – I still wear some that are over a decade old, and they look fine.
I have had more than ten Element T-Shirts over the years, and with so many colours to choose from, it will probably not be long before I buy another one.
I bought a couple of these a year ago and was so impressed I bout a couple more. In yesterday’s sale, I bought three more. I live in tee shirts these days and these are simply superb.
Although synthetic, they have a great feel to them and are supremely well cut and a good length. Have worn them in Asia and South America and even in the hottest weather, they are amazingly cool to wear. They wash and dry exceptionally quickly and need no ironing.
Full price, they are expensive but then I usually wait until the sale to stock up.
A year on these look as good as the day I purchased them. This is in marked contrast to the Stria tee shirts I had to return because they pulled so badly within a couple of wears.
Either the sizing has changed or I’ve lost weight but I’ve gone from M to S. Great fit. Comfortable as a 3-season base layer, or on its own.
I bought two of these for a holiday to India. I was suddenly taken violently ill whilst wearing one of them and suffice to say, it was covered. We left it in a heap for the wonderful hotel staff to deal with, it came back to us a day later laundered... and to this day we cannot tell which of the two shirts it was.
Hence the description "indestructible".
I've owned many different Tees over the years some twice the price and this one is by far the best quality and technical ability by far. I have these in six different colours but favorite is black (classic). I even wear with a 12 litre rucksack and leaves no marks or bobbles on the back of the Tee. Colour looks as good as new (I wash on a cold wash with a decent colour liquid). No shinkage. Dries quickly and NO NEED TO IRON - HOORAY! I could go on.......
A beautifully simple t-shirt that you can wear under any layer and great on its own when it's warm enough. Pimento orange is a fantastic colour too!
This is a good all-around t-shirt. At 6'5" tall, I appreciate that it has some additional length to it. It has a nice feel, better than cotton I would say, and dries quickly.
A wonderful feel and weight.no nonsense tee.
