Our smart-casual Merino Union 150 Polo helps to regulate your body temperature using a clever blend of durable, technical polyester and natural merino wool.Read more…
We have taken the classic good looks of a woollen polo shirt and given it a technical twist by blending the natural, super soft feel of Merino with performance-enhancing polyester.
Our Merino Union 150 Polo is a smart travel and everyday wear polo that’s stylish enough for an evening out. Made from a blend of technical polyester and natural merino wool, it combines the durable, quick-drying properties of synthetics with the natural soft feel and antibacterial effects of wool.
Merino wool is nature’s finest technical fabric – it has an uncanny ability to regulate your body temperature in a wide range of conditions. So, it’s nice and cosy in the cold but never too hot when the temperature or your activity levels start to rise.
Merino wool has another remarkable property which makes it particularly suitable for travel – it has an amazing natural resistance to the build-up of odour, meaning you won’t feel the need to wash it as often as you would with a regular polo. On a long trip, with limited washing facilities, that’s a real bonus.
Lightweight, soft, crease resistant, packable and stylish the Merino Union 150 Polo will become your new favourite travel companion.
63% Merino Wool, 37% Polyester.

Pocket science at Rohan is all about precision and detail of design, but most of all, it’s about keeping your most important stuff safe at times when losing keys, passports and wallet is more than just an inconvenience. We use several different methods – whichever is the most appropriate. Some pockets are completely hidden with micro zips, some are touch and close with roll-over tops and some are high quality zips.
Building stretch into our fabrics offers some big advantages. It allows us to make very comfortable, streamlined clothing. And a close fit has big advantages for active people. Clothes don’t flap in the wind, they work well in a layering system without bulking up and because there is less fabric, they are lighter, dry quicker and pack smaller – all critical Rohan virtues.
We use man-made technical insulation that offers high levels of thermal efficiency, quick dry times and minimum bulk. We also use the finest goose down for the coldest environments. All materials for cold weather, that carry the warmth icon, are rated Base, Mid, High or Extreme allowing you to select what you need with accuracy.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

I'm a tremendous fan of Rohan's Merino Union fabric. I have several items, base layers, polo shirts and long sleeve shirts, the oldest of which is several years old now, and they have all served me well.
We all know the remarkable qualities of merino wool, but I find that the addition of the polyester makes the material easier to care for than pure merino, as well as making the clothes more durable. I use mine for daily wear as well as walking & travelling.
If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to replace the chest pocket on the long sleeve shirts with a hidden pocket at the hem, (like the one on the short sleeve polo; it's far more useful). And if Rohan introduced some lighter colours into the range, (perhaps Sky blue), these shirts would be the perfect choice for travel in any climate. I'd certainly add them to my collection.
I am a definite fan of Rohan's merino wool gear and I have had several in different formats over the last couple of years. Rohan merino tops layer very well and are very suitable for "emergency tops" as they pack small. If you have been travelling all day you can pop it over your crumpled shirt for dinner: XXL is just right me to do this. They don't get "stinky" with wear but they do wash well (with soap) and creases hang out nicely. With 100% merino and cashmere jumpers from another company, small holes sometimes appear for no apparent reason. I think the added polyester in the Rohan product avoids this problem. This is great value If you can get it in one of Rohan's frequent sales.
I was dubious about the high polyester content of the fabric, but this shirt is just as smell resistant as the 100% merino shirts I have, and is a bit sturdier. Dries as fast as 100% merino as well. (I travel a lot, so getting multiple days wear out of a shirt and overnight-or-better drying is important). I'll buy another.
Just come back from Cape Verde. Off West Africa. Merino is
just something else. Cool when it’s hot. Warm when it’s
cool. Polo 150 is smart to go out in the evening yet crease
free. Low on odour when worn following day under the sun... What more can I say... Definitely the thinking mans
Lovely top, fits well, comfortable, washes well. Easy to pack. Father delighted. Usual Rohan quality. Highly recommend.
Supreme quality and extremely comfortable. Cool and warm - that’s the beauty of merino products.
