Cosy, down-filled reversible jacket offering outstanding winter insulation.
During what has become known as The Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, famous explorers such as Scott, Shackleton and Amundsen had to rely on coats made of gaberdine and use layers of woollen sweaters to keep warm. It was the best technology they had available but would often prove lamentably inadequate for the task in hand - few survivors of these intrepid polar adventures escaped without frostbite.
A century later, time (and technology) has moved on and we like to think Captain Scott, Sir Ernest and Roald would approve of our Nordic jacket.
Its ethically sourced premium duck down filling and substantial, adjustable hood would surely have found favour with arctic explorers looking to protect themselves from the biting cold.
You can reverse the jacket to reveal its high visibility lining and cleverly placed reflective trims – both important safety features, especially if your adventures take you to the remote corners of our planet – but equally as valuable on a cold winter's night along an unlit British country lane.
The adjustable hem and sleeve cuffs help you to really seal in the warmth, and warm fleece facings around the chin and lining of the pockets feel luxurious and give cold fingers an extra boost when needed.
It's also fully machine washable, easy care and packs down into a surprisingly small bundle in its own integral Packpocket™.
With a Nordic jacket, why not create your own heroic Age of Exploration?

Cutting down windchill can make more difference to your comfort and safety than the amount of insulation you are wearing. Garments that carry this icon are Highly Wind Resistant.
Pocket science at Rohan is all about precision and detail of design, but most of all, it’s about keeping your most important stuff safe at times when losing keys, passports and wallet is more than just an inconvenience. We use several different methods – whichever is the most appropriate. Some pockets are completely hidden with micro zips, some are touch and close with roll-over tops and some are high quality zips.
Good design is more often about what to take off than what to put on. And clever design is about giving one feature two functions, that’s why many Rohan garments feature an internal mesh stretch pocket that doubles as a Packpocket™ for easy storage.
Some of our garments have a split personality and are built with two distinct levels of performance. This is accessed simply by turning them inside out. You get two garments in one saving weight and pack space. A typical example of this is where we have designed one side of the garment to protect against windchill and one side to offer warmth.
Our durable water resistant finish, which forces water droplets to ‘bead up’ and run off the outside of the jacket, is designed to remain at 80% efficiency – even after 20 washes.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. Rohan is your constant companion for every journey, whatever the journey.
