The first-choice trousers for British walkers.
Read more…We believe our Roamers are the most comfortable and functional walking trousers around. And lots of our most active customers seem to agree. They’re our best-selling women’s trousers - by a country mile.
And it’s no surprise.
They’re made from a sophisticated blend of polyamide and stretchy elastane so, naturally, they’re tough, wind resistant and durable. But they’re also light, highly breathable and supremely comfortable.
They’ve got a nice, understated appearance too - they don’t look too ‘technical’. So, whilst they’ll go the distance on the toughest treks they don’t look or feel out of place when you’re bobbing around town or enjoying a meal in a posh country pub.
They feature two hand pockets and two security pockets - one hidden inside the right-hand pocket and one in the right leg seam. They’re not large but they’re perfect for keeping small valuables and travel documents safe, secure and close at hand.
Roamers are a great mild-weather, versatile choice - if you’re walking in Britain from spring through to autumn, you’d be hard pressed to find a better choice.
And, if you’re wearing them in the high Summer, you’ll be pleased to know that the fabric offers a very good (UPF40+)* level of protection from the harmful effects of UV radiation. Not absolutely essential in the UK but very nice to know if you’re planning a walking trip to Mallorca, Corsica or Morocco.
*A Note on Sun Protection
All Rohan garments which carry our sun protection icon, have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. As a guide to the level of protection offered to covered areas, garments are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet; the reduction of associated health risks will vary with other factors such as skin type or individual medical history.

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
DMC™ is a wicking treatment that rapidly spreads the moisture our bodies create across the surface area of a garment. This can be achieved through the technical construction of the garment or by a performance coating and ensures that the garment dries more quickly, encourages evaporative heat loss and helps you stay cooler and more comfortable for longer.

Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

I like the cut, and hooray fot the pockets. I definitely do not wish to drag a bag around on every dog walk and get very grouchy with firms that put plenty of pockets in men's clothes and leave them out of women’s for appearance sake. But there’s not much of the year when I wear them.
The fabric is far too hot for me in summer. I retreat to ancient Airlight bags and wholly natural fabric alternatives. And it’s too chilly in winter. (I really like my Winter Roamers though)
My waist & hip size are an exact match for UK12 on Rohan's size chart. After making the same mistake of ordering a UK12 several times & finding them impossibly large, I finally wised up & tried a UK10. Perfect fit! (I'm 5'5" ~130 lb). I find skin-tight clothing uncomfortable, so needing to buy clothing smaller than the size chart suggests seems very odd. But otherwise, I really like everything about Rohan clothing, the good quality, its quick-drying properties, its all-around usefulness, whether for work, hiking, light-weight travel, etc.
I have bought several pairs of these trousers over the years, in different colours, because they are so comfortable to wear, wash well and keep their shape. They still look as good as new even after a few years wear. Really pleased with them.
I have 3 pairs of Roamers and a waterproof pair. They’re very comfortable to wear as have good stretch in the fabric. I live in rural Wales and wear them for dog walking, camping, going into town and worldwide travel. They wash well and dry quickly.
I like the small, zipped leg pocket for a credit card & a key.
On the design front I’d like a decent size back pocket for my phone as it’s not so comfortable in the front pocket banging against my upper thigh. I’ve also snagged 2 pairs on brambles :( Otherwise, I love them!
I have had two pairs of these trousers which I use for worldwide travel birdwatching in mountains and forests. I need the pockets as I do not carry a handbag except for church once a week at home and shopping once a week! Even walking the dog I just carry my driving licence hidden in a concealed pocket and out for a day I carry only a driving licence , one credit card and maybe a 10 Euro note..everything else is in a small rucksack but I like valuables to be hidden esp if on a beach and going for a swim...
Yey.. you really can't go wrong with these trousers. No 1, they are just so comfortable, good to go in pretty much any weather scenario, they fit on the waist, quick drying, go with all the other Rohan stuff ( I know its sad, but I like colour coordinated), they are my 'go to' trousers for a windy walk along the coast or a Sunday stroll through the forest. Love them...only minor quibble, there are only so many pockets you need..would rather have 'clean lines' rather than 'hidden pockets' that are never used...most gals I know, still have a bag......
In the last month I have purchased 3 pairs of these trousers and have worn & washed them constantly since I got them. I will probably buy several other pairs in different colours. They have been worn for general use & with a Tian shirt have gone out to dinner too. I would say that at 5ft 1 ins I have had 3 inches taken off the legs. Have only given them 4* since I had to have them shortened otherwise they would have been 5*.
